An editorial-text widget is a free-text typographic primitive — one line or paragraph of words rendered in a chosen editorial style. WidgetCraft's Text widget takes a single content string and a mode (hero, headline, positioning, eyebrow, stat, or pill) and produces a clean, theme-aware block of type for portfolios, profile pages, link-in-bio layouts, and any composition that needs a heading, a tagline, or a small status chip.
Text is the foundational typographic block other WidgetCraft templates are built from. It renders a single author-typed string in one of six editorial modes: 'hero' (an oversized Fraunces display line for your name or headline), 'headline' (a medium section heading), 'positioning' (an italic one-sentence pitch), 'eyebrow' (a small uppercase mono label that sits above a heading), 'stat' (a credibility line like '12 yrs · 40 brands' — you type the separators), and 'pill' (a bordered transparent chip with a status dot, ideal for availability). Because the surface stays transparent and every color comes from the universal style controls, the same Text widget reads correctly on a cream page background or on a forest-green color zone — the text, accent, and muted colors are all configurable per block. An optional label renders as a small uppercase eyebrow above the content, so you can pair an eyebrow and a heading in a single widget.

What are the different modes?
Six: hero (large display), headline (section heading), positioning (italic pitch line), eyebrow (small uppercase label), stat (credibility numbers line), and pill (a bordered chip with a status dot). Pick one in the inspector — each maps to a hand-tuned type scale.
How do I add separators like the '·' dots in a stat line?
Type them yourself in the content field. The widget treats content as one dumb string, so 'stat' mode just renders '12 yrs · 40 brands · ex-toss' exactly as you write it. This keeps you in control of the punctuation and wording.
What is the label field for?
The optional label renders as a small uppercase mono eyebrow above the main content. Use it to pair an eyebrow with a heading in one widget — e.g. label 'selected work' above a positioning line.
Will it look right on a colored background?
Yes. The widget never paints its own background — it stays transparent and inherits the text, accent, and muted colors from the style controls. Set the text color to cream and it reads cleanly on a dark forest panel; leave it dark and it reads on a cream page. The pill mode borders itself with the current text color at low opacity so it works on both.
Can I change the font?
Each mode picks an appropriate default (Fraunces for hero/headline/positioning, Geist for stat, Geist Mono for eyebrow/pill). Set a Font family in the STYLE tab to override all modes with your own typeface.
