Testimonials
A testimonials widget is a social-proof block — a set of real customer reviews rendered as clean, theme-aware type for landing pages, portfolios, and link-in-bio layouts. WidgetCraft's Testimonials widget takes an array of reviews (each with a quote, an author, and optional role, avatar, star rating, and source) and lays them out in one of three styles: a single featured testimonial, a slider that spotlights one review with navigation dots, or a stacked grid of review cards. Unlike the single-quote Quotes widget, Testimonials is built for multiple voices with attribution and ratings — the credibility band every showcase page wants.
Testimonials is the social-proof primitive for WidgetCraft compositions. You supply a list of reviews — each one has a quote and an author, plus optional role/title, a source label (e.g. 'G2', 'verified review'), an avatar image, and a 0–5 star rating. Three layouts cover the common needs: 'single' renders one featured testimonial large, ideal as a quiet credibility line under a hero; 'slider' spotlights one review with a row of navigation dots beneath, communicating that more reviews exist (it renders statically — the first testimonial is shown — so it stays dependency-free and works in any iframe host); and 'grid' stacks several review cards, which collapses to a single readable column at the ~420px width embedded widgets are capped to. Two toggles let you hide the star ratings or the avatars when you want a more minimal look. Because the surface stays transparent and every color is read from the universal style controls, the same widget reads correctly on a cream page or on a dark forest panel — text, accent (used for the stars and the active slider dot), muted, and the card border are all configurable per block. When an avatar image isn't supplied, the widget draws a tasteful monogram from the author's initials in the accent color.
Questions, answered.
How is this different from the Quotes widget?
Quotes shows a single rotating inspirational quote. Testimonials shows MULTIPLE customer reviews with attribution — author, role, an optional source label, an avatar, and a star rating — laid out as social proof. Use Quotes for a daily line of inspiration; use Testimonials for reviews and credibility.
What layouts are available?
Three: 'single' (one featured testimonial, large), 'slider' (one large testimonial with navigation dots beneath it), and 'grid' (stacked review cards). Pick one in the LayoutPicker when you add the widget. At the embedded width the grid is a single readable column — no wide multi-column tables.
Does the slider auto-advance or let me swipe?
No. The slider renders statically — it shows the first testimonial with a row of dots indicating the others. This keeps the widget dependency-free and reliable inside any iframe host (Notion, Obsidian, OBS). If you want every review visible at once, use the grid layout.
Can I hide the star ratings or avatars?
Yes. Both 'show rating' and 'show avatar' are toggles in the inspector. Turn ratings off for a quieter, quote-only look, or turn avatars off when you don't have photos — the widget then drops the monogram circle too.
What happens if a testimonial has no avatar image?
The widget draws a small circular monogram from the author's initials, tinted with your accent color. Supply an avatar URL on any item to use a real photo instead — it's rendered as a circular cropped image.
Will it look right on a colored background?
Yes. The widget never paints its own background — it stays transparent and inherits text, accent, muted, and border colors from the style controls. The stars and the active slider dot use your accent color; the card borders use your border color (or a low-opacity tint of the text color when none is set), so it reads cleanly on both cream and a dark panel.
Is this widget free?
Yes. WidgetCraft widgets are free to embed and customize. No signup required, no per-render fees.
